Valluvar Educational Trust was established in the year 2001 by Thiru. K. Senguttuvan, a notable industrialist in this region. Being a philanthropist, the chairman committed himself towards the upliftment of the rural masses through various community development initiatives. His penchant for education was the drive to establish Valluvar College of Science and Management in a serene, sprawling 40 acre landscape, on the Karur – Madurai National Highway.

Valluvar College of Science and Management was established in the year 2004, with a magnanimous vision of creating human assets with high ethics, who would considerably contribute for the betterment of the nation. Its a co-educational institution affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. The college offers 13 Undergraduate programmes, 4 Postgraduate programmes, M.Phil and Ph.D in Commerce. The college has the noble aim of enhancing the knowledge of students belonging to rural society, minorities, and economically down trodden by offering a need based education and ensuring secured placements.

The idol of the divine poet Thiruvalluvar is installed as a beacon on the campus's crown, guiding us like a lodestar. The college transforms the students into meaningful citizens by teaching life lessons obtained fromThirukkural.Valluvar College of Science and Management is the only institution among all the affiliated colleges of Bharathidasan University to hold a licence for organising TEDx events. The college proactively participates in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA), Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), and various other government initiatives. The college received a 4.0 Star Rating in the IIC Ranking 2022 and was named a Band Performer in the ARIIA 2021.
