The Department of English organized a two-day Bridge Course for second-year students, incorporating various engaging activities tailored to different disciplines. BCA students participated in a game involving a musical ball, where they selected tasks and expressed them in English sentences. B.Com CA students delivered speeches recounting their first gifts from family and friends. B.Sc CS, FT&CD, Maths and BA English students formed groups and engaged in a circle game with a kerchief, discussing family gifts when the music stopped. B.Com, B.A PA and B.Sc Physics students shared their life goals, while BCA students organized into groups, described personal gifts.
The overarching objective of these activities was to prompt reflection on themes of sacrifice and empathy from O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi", connecting these themes to contemporary contexts. This initiative aimed to cultivate critical thinking, empathy and a deeper understanding of the significance behind acts of sacrifice and gift-giving in today's world.
